SEA SALT TORTILLA CHIPS (Nixtamal)
Our Sea Salt Corn Tortilla Chips...the corn goes through the ancient, laborious process known as Nixtamal before being coated with a truly special, unrefined sea salt. These chips are the original thick chip, they are going to withstand the thickest of guacamoles, salsas, enchiladas and meals. They pair nicely with our Texas Sun Fire Roasted Salsa.
What is Nixtamal?
This traditional Mesoamerican method produces a more balanced, nutritious and more digestible corn. It increases the bioavailability of the nutrients, minerals and amino acids in the corn while making it easier for our bodies to use. But nixtamalization isn’t just about nutrition; the laborious process of cooking and soaking the corn creates incomparable flavor, texture and aroma.
...and the salt?
Long before the earth knew pollution, volcanic eruptions sealed an ancient, pristine ocean beneath a layer of protective ash in what is now North America. We use the only brand of sea salt harvested from this ancient deposit. It is unrefined, free of artificial additives
